About Us

We are an ideal touring centre for historic Durham, Corbridge, Hexham, Gateshead and Newcastle, as well as many interesting villages. For those wanting a more energetic holiday the area abounds in beautiful walks in the North Pennines, sailing, canoeing and bird watching on the Derwent Reservoir, all within easy reach. We are also near the C2C cycle route.

We are a smallholding of about 15 acres with a cottage garden to  relax in. We keep Ponies, Goats, Chickhens, Cats as well as breeding Border Collie dogs.

Our old farmhouse is over 600 years old and is the oldest dwelling house in North West Durham. It has great charm and allows you to step back in time to  the days of low beamed ceilings and very low doorways. However we do have many 21st Century comforts, including full central heating and wood burning stoves. The bedrooms are clean and fresh, and an aga cooked full english breakfast is included.

Wharnley Burn was once the home of a local highway man in the 17th century.

We have en-suite facilities /private bathrooms and tea/ coffee making facilities and TV's in the bedrooms. There is a comfortable lounge where breakfast is served.

We would like you to feel completely at home during your stay with us.
